Sandra Uesugi, Community Outreach and Engagement

As the Community Outreach and Engagement Program coordinator at Oregon State University’s Environmental Health Sciences Center, Sandra Uesugi is happily utilizing her degree in Environmental Toxicology which she received at University of California, Davis in 1996. Prior to coming to OSU, Sandra worked as a research assistant in a soil microbiology lab at UC Davis. It was there that she became interested in bioremediation and pursued a MS in Soil Science and Bioresource Engineering at OSU. After completing her masters in 2000, Sandra remained at OSU as a pesticide specialist for the National Pesticide Information Center. After her position at NPIC, she began working for the EHSC to pursue her outreach and educational interests, specializing in developing and delivering plain-language resources to bring new research findings to the public. In June 2011, Sandra completed a second bachelors degree in nutrition at OSU and strives to integrate nutrition and environmental health to create more complete health messages for the public. |
